Acoerela
The World's first bilayer spanning dyes

Acoerela Dyes are highly water-soluble and do not form micelles or nanoparticles when reconstituted in aqueous buffer unlike other dyes.  They are incredibly stable and only fluoresce when bound to the lipid bilayer.

Suitable for Exosomes, Mammalian Cell Membranes, Bacteria Gram Staining and Tumour Tracking

Highly Stable

Traditional lipophilic dyes attach to the lipid bilayer in a hairpin style which tends to be unstable. These often detach and end up labelling other membrane-based targets leading to false positives.

Acoerela Dyes span the entire bilayer making them highly stable, minimising false positives.

"Light On" Mechanism

Acoerela dyes are characterised by a high quantum yield (>25%), but this increase in fluroescence is only observed when the dyes are bound to their target.

The change in hydrophobicity of the environment surrounding the dyes when they are bound underlies the "Light on" mechanism.

No Micelle Formation

Acoerela dyes are highly water-soluble and do not form micelles or nanoparticles, when reconstituted in aqueous solution.

Acoerela Dyes promise a low rate of false positives for accurate and reliable detection of exosomes and extracellular vesicles.
